Good design isn't always about adding something. Sometimes it's about knowing what to leave out.

White space gives the elements on a page room to breathe. It creates separation, establishes hierarchy, and gives the eye somewhere to rest. A page with plenty of space around its content can feel calmer and easier to read, even when there's no less information on it.

It's particularly useful in text-heavy design. Rather than relying on borders, boxes, colours, or decorative elements to distinguish one thing from another, space can do much of the work. A larger gap can mark the beginning of a new section. Generous margins can give an article a sense of importance. Even a small amount of extra space between paragraphs can change the rhythm of a page.

This is one of the ideas behind Jotter. The theme deliberately keeps its visual language simple, giving the content plenty of room rather than surrounding it with decoration. There are fewer things competing for attention, so the writing becomes the focus.

The result isn't a page with nothing on it. It's a page where the things that are there have room to breathe.
