A modern website is expected to do a lot. Navigation, search, memberships, comments, sharing, media, archives, tags, author profiles and countless other features all need somewhere to live. The challenge is including those things without letting them take over the design.
For Jotter, that meant making a deliberate distinction between what a theme can do and what it needs to look like. The functionality is there when you need it, but it doesn't have to announce itself all the time.
Good minimalism isn't about having fewer features. It's about making the features you have feel like they belong.
